Soal UAS Bahasa Inggris Kelas 10 SMA Semester 2

Skateboarding

Anybody who is over the age of six knows that there is nowhere safe for skateboarders to skate. This prevents young people from enjoying an active, energetic and adventurous pastime.

Just watch a local street for a short while and note the steady stream of skaters speeding up and down the footpaths. Toddlers can be trampled on and old ladies can be knocked down as they struggle home carrying their cat food from supermarkets.

Skateboarding is a serious sport that improves young people's health. It increases fitness, improves balance and strengthens the joints in knees and ankles. Although it appears to be a solo sport, when groups practice together and compete to perform stunts or runs they form firm friendships.

Young people should be prevented from becoming overweight couch potatoes. If they are actively involved in skating, they do not smoke, take drugs or break laws for fun.

Kids will always seek thrills and excitement. They need to practice their 180s, 360s and Ollie's free from restrictions. Littering

We produce a lot of trash every day. It is true that it is something hard to avoid, but having a better way to deal with it is imperative, because all this time, our habit of littering has affected our environment in a horrible way. Below are several dangerous effects of littering that some of us may not realize this whole time.

If your environment doesn't smell nice, you probably have some organic waste scattered around. Organic waste can rot, and when it does, it pollutes the air with unpleasant smell. Rotten trash is also a good place for some dangerous germ to grow. This dangerous germ can be distributed to the environment through the air or with the help of flies. It means that when you let organic waste lying around, you have to be ready to get sick.

Non-organic waste or also known as non-biodegradable waste, such as plastic and Styrofoam, can also bring negative effect to our environment. In fact, most floods that happen in the urban area is the result of littering this kind of waste. Plastic and Styrofoam that we throw carelessly will be brought to the sewer by the rain water. Soon, it will pile up in the sewer and clog the waterways. When this condition happens, flood is unavoidable.

This type of trash also often washed away to the sea. As the result, it contaminates the water and endangers the life of sea creature. The danger is real. There have been hundreds of sea animal such as turtle, fish, whale, and seal die because they accidentally eat some plastic and cigarette butts. The number will continuously rise if we don't start to change our habit of littering. If this example is not enough to move your heart, then ask to yourself, do you want to eat fish with bunch of trash inside its belly? If you don't, then change it.

Littering will only cause a lot of additional problem that will lead back to us. When we litter, we are actually endangering our own safety. So, if you want to live a happy and healthy life, I strongly advise you to stop littering and start caring to your environment.

Boarding School Education

There are many arguments in favor of a boarding school education. Nevertheless, boarding school is not always the best educational institution for everyone.

At an early age interacting and communicating with people is very important for a child's personal life and can be especially helpful for his/her future. In a boarding school, shy children can take advantage of interaction through communal activities. The boarding school also offers a great variety of activities such as arts, sports, and music that allow children to demonstrate and develop specialized skills in their free time.

Furthermore, the structured way of life and strict rules at the boarding school may help students to get used to a well-ordered way of life. The manners and social skills will help them to become more responsible and confident, and to develop their talents in leadership. Professionally trained teachers and educators in boarding schools can offer excellent education without the parents' constant supervision.

Despite these good points, sending a child to a boarding school is not advisable if he/she is a dependent learner. A boarding school usually demands that students learn independently. In addition, boarding school should not be seen as a measure to solve inappropriate behavior or unsatisfactory study performance. Instead of improving, problematic children may close their relationships with peers and teachers.

Integrated Pest Management

There is no best way to deal with pests in agriculture. Pesticides which are commonly used may cause many problems. I think combining different management operation is the most effective way to controls pests.

Firstly, the chemicals in the pesticides may build up as residues in the environment and in the soil which absorbs the chemical. This reduces the quality of farm product.

Secondly, pests can gradually become resistant to pesticides. This means that newer and stronger ones have to be developed.

Lastly, some pesticides affect non target plants and animals such as fish and bees. This affects the ecology and environment as well. So, understanding of ecology of an area helps a lot in pest control. Pesticides should be chosen and applied carefully so that they don't affect the ecological balance and environment.

Therefore, integrated pest management is a safe and more affective option to fight pest in agriculture and livestock.
