Steps of Independent Construction of Text

1.       Preparation for independent construction of text in the same genre

2.       Individual writing of a text in the same genre (drafts)

3.       Consultation with teacher, conferences with peers about writing.

4.       Editing and reworking of writing. Critical evaluation of success.

5.       Creative exploitation of genre and its possibilities.

 

Sample of activity

1.       Preparation for independent construction of text à Building knowledge of the field.

2.       Individual writing of a text in the same genre  à writing the first draft telling about a topic using the particular genre.

3.       Consultation with teacher, conferences with peers about writing. à consulting the first draft with the teacher, getting feedback to improve the text, asking peers to get suggestions.

4.       Editing and reworking of writing. Critical evaluation of success. à editing the first draft using the teacher’s feedback and peers’ suggestion. It may become the second draft for further edit and improvement or become the final one.

5.       Creative exploitation of genre and its possibilities. à being able to understand the genre, students can explore the genre even further and construct one independently.
